Sport and Extra Mural Activities
At the beginning of each year, learners practice for and participate at our Regional Athletic Meeting. Our network of schools in our area compete against each other in both track and field events. It is a day of great fun and healthy competition. Learners who excel and qualify will be able to advance to the Champion of Champions Athletics Meeting against schools from the entire Western Province. Further to this, qualifying athletes will be able to compete nationally and internationally at the All Africa Student Convention and the International Student Convention.
Regional Sport Events
For participation in formal sport, Young Eagles is part of a body of schools that arrange sporting events among one another. They organize and plan different sporting events across the region and province each year in a variety of sporting codes. We have participated in Soccer, Netball, Cricket, Swimming, Table Tennis, Chess and Volleyball among other events. Learners are encouraged to participate.
Physical Education / Training
Once a week learners of Young Eagles will have a physical education and training period where we focus on the physical development of the learner. The program involves physical exercises, sport coaching and practicing for certain events e.g. athletics, soccer, netball and cricket.
Monkeynastix is a physical development program for the younger learner to assist in gross motor movement. This is an optional extension of our physical education and training program.
Chess / Music / Art
We also provide weekly classes in chess, music and art whereby learners can develop themselves creatively.
Young Eagles also allows and encourages learners to engage in external sport activities. Learners may join sporting clubs for rugby, soccer, horse riding, dancing (e.g. ballet, spiritual dancing), gymnastics, etc.
